I killed it with my Mark III, I nailed that 80s metal sound perfectly, cause the other guitarist in my band has one, but then he can't change his sound to a newer metal tone or much else. I am happy.
 
I have a JCM800 here in the studio that I really like, but you have to turn it up so loud, even by Mark III standards, that it's hard to use. Plus, every six months the pots go to hell no matter what you do.
 
use to own one as well, a 50w head with two 4x12 cabs, but it needed an overdrive, and a boost FX in order to get a good distortion outa of it, and to get it to sound good, needed to play SO LOUD, it was just insane. Live, that beast kick ass, but other then live, it had no sound at lower volume.

THank god for the MKIII..:)...does everything..and no FX.
