Finally got this amp out with a full band ensemble and it was great, sounded better then my playing!!! This thing hides nothing in your playing, thats for sure. I retube with JJ's from Eurotubes, and normally run the the pres and treb around 9'oclock, it was a nice surprise to be able to bring both up!!! Normally I keep them lower and practicing alone or with just my drummer, but actually need more high end with the band.
I love this amp and can't wait to get it pumping thru a 2x12, which is on the way as we speak!!!

Congrats on getting to jam out....I'm soooo jealous!!! I've had my Ace out just a couple of times so far, and I had virtually the same results as you. It's interesting that you also found that the presence and treble could actually be pushed up a little in a gig setting. I play at home most of the time, but I love taking this green monster out from time to time and letting it BREATHE!!! I love this amp

Let us know how that 2X12 works for you...I'm thinkin' along that same line.

I had the same experience that I could add more treble & presence with my ace in a jam setting. Very curious about the 2x12 and how it works out as I have been thinking about a 4x12! :)

Just got the 2x12, much thicker, more push and lots of tight bottom, just the way I like it!!
The cab is absolute mint with one minor ding. This thing provdes alot more chunk and more crunchy sounding then the open back C90. I will say I like the the C90's darker character and the way the open back breathes and fills the room. In a perfect world I would half both but for now the 2x12 will easily handle all of my needs. Great classic rock and Hard rock tone!!! And portable, 12 pounds less then the 2x12 recto.
In my opinion a 2x12 is a nice middle ground, I know when I jam with this it will sound great.
On a side note I also ran my little Blackstar H-5 Head, 5 watter and it sounded excellent as well.
Definetly enough volume for a jam, and lights as **** to boot!
Like the options the 2x12 extension cab gives for sure!

Also guys any suggested setting for this amp would be appreciated, still getting to know this amp, options are amazing.
Specifically for Aerosmith, ZZ top (Early), GNR, ACDC. Moistly classic rock with some hard rock thrown in!
Thanks

Just got myself a 2x12 recto as well; I've found so far my treble and presence are pushed up to about 10 o'clock from almost nil before. After a year w/ this amp I can't believe how it's capable of really THUMPIN' now!! It's so cool to have all the knobs available for tweakin' again...I don't even have my GEQ pedal plugged in yet

Got the GNR sound down...still searchin' for that cool ZZ tone, but it's in there for sure!!

The Cab really helps!! Last jam I was able to run my treb at around 11 0clock.
Pres at 9 or 10 Oclock.
As much as I like this amp it can get very harsh and bright, it also seems its a common complaint amoungst users.
Last night I borrowed a Koch Twintone 50 watt head to go with my cab and brought it to practice.
This head is really well designed with tons of useable features. I thought it was gonna suck but when the band kicked in it sat great in the mix. Very full, great cut and sustain.
I played great and didn't have to fiddle with it thru out the night. The clean with a strat is one of the best I've ever heard as well.
Now my band wants to do a shoot out between the 2 heads next practice.
These to amps couldn't be more differant.

Running them with a 4X12 yields the best results IMO. Also, many of you seem to run your treble and presence low. I think I have my Stiletto Deuce II head, channel 1, crunch mode, treble at noon and the presence at 10:30 o'clock. Presence around the same for channel 2, which I run in the tite gain mode. However, I think I have the treble around 9:30 o'clock with that channel...

The trick to get your Stiletto to sound less ear piercing bright is to back off on the master a little, and then compensate for the volume loss with the output knob. Viola! Instant smoothing of the high high ends, so they don't sound ear piercing no more. Before that, I kept fiddling around with the EQ controls, and always prefer a setting that however sounded rather ear piercing bright. That decreasing master, and increasing output trick did the job for me. Finally, I could keep the bloody knobs in one spot. ROFL!!!

Thanks for the insight KH...I can really see where a 4x12 would help; a LOT. But, to your point, I'm finding that same thing working on my Ace as well. There is SO much gain on tap, that backing down on the gain to lose some of the brightness seems to be working pretty well so far - and the gain is still really nice sounding on the "tite gain" mode. :D

This is gonna be SOOO much fun!!!!
