Apologies for the subject line - it's from an old Saturday Night Live faux commercial.

Today, got together with my jam buddies - we've been doing some acoustic things, but decided we needed to test with amps before playing out. The other guitarist brought a Fender Acoustasonic - sounds great. I don't have an acoustic amp - but plugged my Ovation (1778LX Elite) into my Lone Star Special, running on the clean channel, with gain at about 10:00.

Sounded fabulous. I haven't had time to mess with EQ, etc. but was surprised that I got anything like a useful acoustic tone.

And tried it through the Mk IV as well (again on the clean channel). Oddly enough, if anything it perhaps sounded better than the LSS, but the EQ settings are different.

Neat. I didn't expect it.

Any others who have used their Boogies for acoustic amp duty?

I sometime use my Larrivée with my Roadster on the clean Tweed mode.
This guitar has an LR Baggs Element Notch system and it sounds really good with the Roadster. It add some depth and gives a warmer sound compared to being plugged directly throught the mixer( it still sounds good thought!).

I let a buddy use my LSS for an outdoor gig at a local farmers market. He ran his acoustic guitar and an SM58 into a little mixer then into the clean channel and it sounded great. Didn't need the master past 10 oclock. Kept it on the 35w setting.

So yes, the LSS can be used as a PA in a pinch. :D

I too played an Ovation through my Mesa's. The RKII clean channels just sounds outstanding. I didn't know it was going to sound so good. I figured the Quad would have the same results... but it didn't.

When I first got my RKII a friend of mine who's a harmonica player played thought my amp. I gave him the Ch 1 and 2 tour. He Fell in love with fat and tweed modes. Was surprised how much reverb there was when it was set so low and it was so 3D. The only thing he disliked... "it's too tight" So I threw him in spongy, gave him 2x6L6, and tube rec. He flipped out!!

He went in thinking Mesa = high gain and sh!t cleans. He had no idea Mesa had this side to them. That made my day.

Used my LSC for an acoustic amp at several little coffee house gig's.
Also used my little F30 "Stack" for a bass amp. I don't recommend that though, the speakers hit the grill cloth a couple times, giving me that "Boy this is going to be very expensive" feeling.
