I pulled the amp out of its combo box today. I expected to see the HR as that is what it is. But it also has "50" written after that, on both ends. It may also be "SO" but it looks like a "50" to me.

Any guesses?

It also has "MB 1984" written next to one of the tube sockets and "RCS" next to the "+", close to the Power cord section.

The 50 code is the week the chassis priduction started on the amp. It usually took Mesa up to 6 - 8 weeks to put a final tech date on the amp. In the end of C+ production they were producing less C+'s and moving onto the III so the final assembly would only take 2-4 weeks, hence it's a December 84 amp that would have also been teched by Randall Smith by the end of December 84. Must have been slow during that December and Mike B was unavailable for the final inspection.

Very cool. :D

"Old Smokey"(DRG 52) has a final tech date of 2/85 and the MB signature, if that helps. 8)

I took a closer looke at Mikes date on the flat underneath part of the chassis with a good flash light and it's January 1985, not December 84, those guys didn't have great penmanship!!! :D

Maybe Mike B took a well deserved Christmas vacation!!! Thanks for the info!!!
