I could be wrong but i think he means a rack case that will hold rack gear only but can be placed on top of the amp.
The SKB roto X shallow series would probably be what you're looking for. I used to have a Triple XXX head with a small rack setup and a 3 Space shallow roto X case was perfect for setting on top of the amp.

I use a Gator shallow 3-space. Gator 3-space shallow
The SKB Roto's are nice but the rear opening is kind of small, the Gator is fully open in the back with rack rails just like the front.
To keep the rack off the top vents of the head I installed some 5/8" high rubber feet to the rack case like these. For a normal 45 min. set it's fine, but if I play an "all nighter" I have a small clip on fan I use to keep the head cooler.

Better to go to the hardware store and get the type that use a screw. I would go ahead and replace the screws with bolts, washers and lock nuts. Then you know they are not going anywhere. I got the fan from a Walgreen's or CVS, Walmart may even have one. It's about 6" diameter with a low and high speed. With the fan on low speed the entire head shell stays cool.
I found #10-32 screws fit (very snugly) the feet I linked to in my last post. I used two 5/32 fender washers with each foot to sandwich the rack inside and out and used nylon locking nuts. All of this can be had at Home Depot for cheap. The feet fit perfectly into the recesses on the Gator Rack.

Here's the rack upside-down with the foot and another fender washer in the recess in the rack case. For more height you could add washers or move the feet out of the recess.

i have the skb roto 4U and currently have a 2 space drawer housing my pedals and a furman conditioner. there's enough room for the g major, which i'm getting any day now.
my main problem since i got the rack is where to put it. ideally, i want to place it on top the amp, but it just looks so unstable (and kinda dorky). so for now i have it next to the amp on the floor, but it's so low it's difficult to get to it if need be, and on stage if we're playing on a tiny stage, it takes up too much space!
i though of getting a shallow one but then my drawer won't fit
would you have any suggestions on how i can find a way to put it on top of the amp and still be secured? thanks.

You can do that as well (rack between head and cab), I prefer the rack on top. At tear down the head gets a minute to cool while I pack the rack.

there is a company out there that make rack cases that look like amp heads......i cant think of the name or the site i found them on but when i find it i'll post the link.... anyone else every seen these??

Port City Music Supply. They make a four space shallow rack that looks like it's the same dimensions as a head shell.
