Is the Mark IIA a noisy amp?

I have this model and, when the gain is low the amp is pretty clean. However, when I crank the gain or when I set the master fairly high there is quite a lot of noise.

Still the noise level is quite ok compared with the volume but I have played modern Mesa's that are really clean in this situation.

Maybe they are a little noisy...that is why guitars have volume knobs!
Nothing wrong with a little hum..

No,

You're not paranoid : my MKIIA was noisy too, until I reworked the GND circuit. There is much less hum now, but it can't compete with my SF Fenders, unfortunately.
