I've actually CALLED Mesa before and discussed this, but in speaking online with some common sense-based musicians, the information I thought I had recieved may not make sense. It's pretty simple.

I called and told whoever I spoke with on the phone that the serial number on my amp was as follows: R-001505" and asked if there was a way to tell me when it was built, if not the exact date, perhaps the MONTH and YEAR.

The guy on the phone told me that he figured it must be one of the first 500 or so that they'd built, and I have repeated that to some folks who pointed out that it may not be so, based upon the serial number.

SO! How old is it? Is it safe to assume that my amp is the "One thousand, five-hundred and fifth one" built?

I mean, it makes perfect sense, I'd just like to be sure that I know what I'm talking about so I don't make a fool of myself in the future.

Thanks!!! -Jhon

You are correct.

To find the date, unscrew the 4 bottom screws. Pull out the chassis. Look for the date handwritten in marker. You're done!! Don't touch the big blue caps or you'll get fried. I'm going to guess yours is 1993.

Thank you . . . I have always wanted this information. As far as the "big blue caps", I have to be honest and admit that I have no idea what you are talking about.

I don't wanna damage the amp OR get fried . . . where are these screws located? UNDER the whole box or am I supposed to be looking at it from the back? This is going to be utterly facinating.

I use amps every day but I have never really taken one apart before. This is gonna be awesome.
