hurt my fretting lil finger carrying a flatscreen tv... left hand felt jagged sharp pains when the plug snagged on the edge of the dresser somehow. At the moment I could feel my tendons snapping over the swelling... I can bend it fine but there is pain.

bruised all over and swollen... I iced it yesterday and today I bought a splint for it.... anyone have experience with this?

I had a similar accident. I was working on a home with no flooring, just balancing my footing on floor joists. Anyway, I was trying to pull away a wall panel siding when I slipped, as I tried to regain my balance, the panel snapped back and my finger was caught between two panels. I was able work my hand free.

I packed in ice right away. For a few days my finger felt numb like there's no feelings. But the feeling came back so I can play the guitar, type (computer), blog, and mastur ...

Bait not the temptation to type play guitar or master any licks off the major scales?

rest is best and thanks for the advice... heat pads I hear are even better than ice right away

the knuckle is sore but the swelling is down ... have not played in 5 days.... hate not playing

I worked with a guy (mechanic) who's wife insisted that he always wore his wedding ring. One day he was carrying a transmission, about 150 lbs, and lost his grip. The tranny fell to the floor but his ring got caught on it taking all of his skin and other tissue completely off his finger. ALL, COMPLETELY, OFF The doctor used the term "De-Glove". I was unfortunate enough to be the guy to drive him to the ER so I got a good look at his bloody skeleton finger. All because his insecure wife thought he would screw around on her if he didn't have his ring on 24/7.
There, feel better bout your little pinky?

I fractured a bone in my left index finger about 15 years ago, it was in a splint for a few weeks. Time to learn how to play slide!

With the LEFT HAND  ...
You mean when it comes to "mastering your domain" [Seinfeld] you are not ambidextrous?

Then analysis this, I could be left handed. ... I do have a left-handed amp.

[ edit note ] After reading my post before you post nicke, I was thought to myself: "If someone [member] is observant, that member is going to mentioned something about my left [ guitar fingering ] hand." So bottom line nicke, you are very observant.

I've been married for 12 years, metal machinist for 15 years and now in a mechanic type role(quality assurance) for 9 months. I wore my wedding ring for ONE day, as my paranoia overrides any of my wife's thoughts or concerns. If someone wants do defy the marriage vows, a ring is not going to stop them, FWIW. :!:

Ice finger, don't go crazy with the ice, I got frost bite on a broken finger and lets just say I will not drink while icing for a long time.
Splint and athletic tape, not to tight, elevation, and Naproxin or Advil. Or Something stronger if you have senior age relatives.
I broke my left hand twice, fingers at least once, right hand once, and fell through a window through that rammed a 8 inch piece of glass through my left had severing the artery and tendons that connect my pinky and ring finger.
Not trying to brag or anything, but my hands work fine, yours will to, it just takes about two to three weeks.
Besides now days your doctor would just send you to another doctor.
OH, and Mojo sent!!

this is encouraging ,... much more than the wedding ring story!

thanks... the finger is still stiff 10 days after, the swelling and discoloration is gone but when I play scales I can feel the stiffness and some pain...

Ill update you all on the progress of my pinky!! lol thanks everyone!!! :?

EWW DEGLOVE!???

YUCK!

You know, I think I am going to be very careful when I wear my wedding ring from now on. Definitely out of the question for heavy lifting.

Yeah, de-glove. I don't know what it is about that term but it bothered me more than the injury.

Whatever became of the bloody skeleton-finger? Dare I ask? Now I'm paranoid and I don't ever want to wear my ring!
About a year of skin grafts from what I heard. I don't know how well it healed because he obviously couldn't work as a mechanic anymore so he found an office job and we lost touch. Lots of fun us mechanics have.

Yeah, this post will haunt you. Besides the "glove", you may get of visual me mastur ...ing"

If you have been married for more than three years, or three times in less than ten years, you do not have to wear a ring. It's the law.
