Hey guys, so I opened my ToV saw that the send (on the Fx) pot was busted and replaced it. I was told by someone on this forum its a 25ohm potentiometer. I saw when I replaced it that the 25k ohm is a bit bigger than the others in there. None of them have a reading on them, I just want to make sure I put on the right potentiometer.

Also, the color of the wires across is yellow-2 greens wound together- black right? (this is with the soldering pieces on top and the knob on the bottom.)

Thanks so much guys!!!! Want to make sure I changed the right one before I turn it on!

It's a 25 *K* ohm, not 25 ohm - a factor of 1000 different. Make sure you have the right one! The value is either stamped into the metal on the back or side of the casing, or sometimes printed on the fiberboard facing the shaft. If it says 25K or 253, that's the right one. If it says 25, 250 or 25R, it isn't.

As long as it will physically fit in the space available, the actual size of it makes no difference, but if it's bigger than the original, make sure it does not touch any other part and short it out.

I don't remember the color of the wires in mine, but if you make sure you connect them in the same places on the new pot as on the old one, it will work the same.

That page won't open...

Anyway - you *really* should have made a note of where the wires go, but from the schematic, the two green wires definitely go to the middle terminal because it's the only one with more than one connection. If you've got the other two the wrong way round the pot will just work backwards, and you can easily swap them.

If the value is wrong - and assuming you haven't disturbed anything else - the worst that will happen is that the loop just won't work, because a 25 ohm pot would be almost a dead short on the signal path. So you can try it. If the amp works properly, you've done it right.

You have the right pot. The link worked fine for me :?: You may have to snap off the little tab on the front though.

Luckily for you, I have a pic of the underside of my Dual Rec saved to my hard drive. The black wire goes on the right (looking at the back casing of the pot with the lugs facing down), and the yellow wire goes on the left. 94TOV is correct that the two greens go to the center lug, although on mine, there is only one green wire.

You can also see it in this photo; the bottom of the two pots on the right:
