Hey hows it goin guys. Over at GC where i live they have one of the newest Bogner Ubershcalls, and they are asking 1600 for it. I played it through a 1960 A cab and it sounds pretty dang good. I plan on goin there today adn takin my cab and head and comparing right there. Im really torn b/c I know Bogners are good and they are quality, but my mesa is quite a lot more versatile and it is very good too. Bogner=2channel,but it gets to the point. Mesa=3 channel8 modes. Its not that im tired of the Mesa or dont like it, its just that there is a 2600 dollar botique amp that i could trade mine for, and get easily. The main reason i went over there was to see if it was as impressive as everyone says and i got quite a few good tones pretty easily that i apealed to me. The mesa took like 3 months to get used to and adjust. I just want to know what you think and if you guys have any advice. Ive had the mesa for over 2 years, adn every other amp ive ever played has seemed sterile compared to mine b/c its modded. Thanks as always for the help.

“BOGNER”
The main reason i went over there was to see if it was as impressive as everyone says and i got quite a few good tones pretty easily that i apealed to me..

From what you wrote its clear to me. You sold me on the Boogie!
:D

Buy the Bogner with a credit card. It may be possible to apply for a GC credit card and during certain promotions you can get 0% interest for 12 months with certain purchases. Then you can compare at home at your leisure and either take the Bogner back, sell it or keep it and pay off the loan in under 12 months and pay no interest. I got some nice stuff at GC once that way, use them for what they are good for! :D :D :D

Agreed....apply for GC credit and you get to use the amp for a year without ANY payment.

That way, you get to spend some good time with it, if you like it, great, keep it....by then, you might be able to afford both. If not, you can probably sell it and make a few bucks, as $1600 is a great deal.

Peeps, watch out with thos CC's, if you're only one day late with payment you're gonna pay lots and lots of interest.

Debt's are shitty and try to stay away from them, if you don't have the money: save up for the amp and wait a litle longer, much safer and cheaper in the end.

If it is the blue revision snap that sucker up, because they sell for about $2000 on ebay and you could easily make your money back.

As to GC, be carefull because they usually dont offer the 0% for a year on used gear.

The Bogner is one of the top of the line amp builders, and the sound is world class, but along with it will come bias issues when you re-tube, periodic maintenance issues, and my favorite: WHO WILL YOU CALL WHEN YOU BLOW A POWER TUBE? High end amps suffer the same problems as all tube amps, when they go down, they can go down hard, and where has this Bogner been? Will it need a cap and filter job soon cause the previous owner railed it on ten with a hot plate for three years straight? To many variables with GC used gear at a low price like that. HAVE A TECH LOOK IT OVER FIRST, THEN DECIDE.

Bogners are great amps and the company is great. To answer your question who will be there, well bogner will be there.

I purchased a used ubershall off ebay, well the amp turned out to be a prototype that got damaged in shipping, then sold back to someone etc.. The guy never explained this in the auction and when i complained the guy did not want to refund my money.

Well of course i filed a claim with pay pal, but they needed a letter stating what this amp was. i called bogner and to my surprize i received a call back from Reinhold himself. He went out of his way to help me, answering any questions I have, sending pay pal faxed documents explaining what the amp is etc..

By the way, besides the bias, there is no more maintance then any other tube amp.

Now there is great customer service!!!

I played them both at GC through my VHT, and the bogner didnt tickle my fancy. It was probably the best (tonewise) amp i have ever played (besides my mesa) but it wasnt as good imho. i am not biased at all either b/c if it would have been what i was expecting to hear, i wouldnt own a mesa anymore  it was cool and all but the modded mesa is still doin it for me. idk what it is about it, i hated it at first b/c the controls and features are so intricate, but now that i have a grasp on the sound, its all i can do not to laugh everytime i turn it on b/c how awesome it sounds to me. BTW i am pretty good at eq'ing and i played with the bogner for a good while 45minutes at least. and i wasnt expecting it to sound like my mesa either, i knew it would be different. All in all, if i could do anything i would get the bogner and keep both, b/c for a blue revision 1600 bucks is cheap.
I think i am gonna order a set of el34's just to see how they stand up against the 6550's.
thanks guys for all of the input as usual.
peace
