I use a This1smine buffer in my FXLoop...what do you use?

I did some poking around and discovered that according to some reputable posters out there that Mesa does not play well with TC Rack stuff.

After some research I had Dan at This1smine make me a couple buffers for my FXLoop based on the specs of my Tremoverbs and the GMajor.

I guess it is an impedance mismatch.

I got them last week and had some time (especially last night) to work with them.

I like them.

Some sparkle is back to my tone...just a little... and I was able to reduce the input and output levels of the GMajor by a smidge and overall I am happy.

Is this magic, am I victim to snake oil?

What would you expect and why?

I use a 12" cable from the send of the Tremoverb to the input of the buffer and a 3' cable from the send of the buffer to the return of the GMajor.

Let me know what you think, thanks.

Hi,

I have a TC Electronics G Sharp in my loop, and apparently due to those impedance mismatches, the tone changes considerably when the loop in my DR multiwatt is engaged. The effect is like a deep loss in low end with a nasal character to it and midrange emphasis that is not pretty at all, to the point that is almost unacceptable - all this happening at very low to moderate output levels. When output is increased, the effect becomes masked, eventually dissapearing at typical concert levels.
Same happens with my Mark V, while my Marshall JVM does not show any of this problems: the effects unit is totally transparent, no matter how low is the output volume.
I am not sure if this output related behavior has to do with a different input impedance the TCE unit sees depending on the master volume setting or actually has to do with speaker/cab or even hearing sensitivity vs freq response issues.

Best,
Marcelo
