I agree, usually I am more careful

On an ironic note, I got this email a couple of days ago……

carriedi started a new conversation with you at Mesa Boogie Amp Forum.

Heartbreaker head shell

Hey, have you try asking S60HUB about the Heartbreaker head shell he has to part out? If not i will advise you to ask him because the last time i spoke with him, it's still available and he wants to let it go for a very affordable offer. You can email him for a fast response. [email protected] Have a nice day.
So the syntax and natural language flow is off in this message. It’s understandable but wrong in the sense of how we would naturally speak with English as our first language. Any time in my other collecting hobbies I would see oddities in language, I’d back off the deal. It’s really the little things that add up. Sometimes we want it so bad that we wish it true; just to be had 🫤. Happened to me on a gun sale back when- and I’m still freaking pissed at me and me alone. When reevaluating the deal; it was in black and white. And just like that, I grew up to people who make a living by stealing. That would be a tuff job to live with. Fortunately it wasn’t a huge loss for you BUT maybe the lesson was worth it. I guess it was for me. Idk.

I just got scammed myself, but I didn't use. the. friends and family so I hope I will get my money back. I reached out. to paypal.I always have to learn the hard. way lol

Thanks for informing us. Did a member from our forum do this to you? If you can share more details, that would be very helpful.

You used paypal friends and family. You poor fool. NEVER DO THAT!!!

By using friends and family you lose ALL buyer protections and paypal won't give your money back even if you have PERFECT proof that you got scammed. And you violated paypal's policies by trying to dodge their fees. They can add insult to injury by closing your account.

NEVER EVER EVER USE PP FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO PAY FOR ANYTHING YOU ARE BUYING.

If you do, you earned whatever comes next.

After all this time I'm stunned that so many people fall for that trick still.

I had a similar experience in a posting last year where I was looking to buy or trade for a badlander head shell. I heard from one member ( dickson6676 ) that he knew a guy who had one. He directed me to [email protected].

I reached out to Ayden’s email and all seemed ok for a little bit. He said he had one and how much was I willing to spend. He was asking way too much, $600 I think. Long story short, I asked for pictures, he proceeded to send pictures from an active badlander listing on the Pitbull Audio site.

I told him that and give him an out asking were these just for reference, he of course said oh yeah, those were just for reference. I never got the head shell pics but I told him price was too high anyway as new ones were $450 direct from Mesa. He then said he had a cheaper one and did send pictures of some wonky looking beat up head shell that definitely wasn’t for a badlander.

Anyway, never went through with any more communications, just said I’ll have to pass and thanks. Was just a weird bit similar experience to OP minus the PayPal. Not sure if either of these two guys are still on forum, but thought I’d pass along my experience.

Try to contact your bank and tell them you got scammed.. Your bank may cover you. I believe that's were PayPal get the money from?

Someone told me they got scammed as a seller when a buyer paid wirh F & F and then took the money back after the item was shipped. I don't know what the conditions are, but supposedly you can reverse a payment you made thru F & F.
And file a dispute with PayPal, they've always been good about getting my money back.

Years ago I got scammed by an eBay buyer
I sold a Hammond transformer on eBay
The buyer used PayPal
The buyer sent an email stating that he had received the transformer
The buyer left glowing positive feedback

3 months later, the buyer claimed credit card fraud. eBay took the money out of my account, even though I had sent them all correspondence
Even when you do everything correctly things can go wrong

So weird, yesterday I posted the message below on another thread, but shows the same criminal using the same email for different products:

"I posted a request for a Mark V headshell last year and got a couple of obvious scam offers and gave up. A couple days ago I got a message on the forum out of the blue which appears to be another:

"gregmilly27 started a new conversation with you at Mesa Boogie Amp Forum.

Mark V90 Headshell
Hello, are you still looking? you can get in touch with Gabriel on [email protected] if still available for sale ."

Note the silly email addresses and the subtle tell in the paradoxical text. "You can get in touch if still available for sale?" Huh?

Something about headshells seems to bring these grifters out of the woodwork,"

So, yeah, obviolusly don't do biz with [email protected].

Well, they need the right amount so it worths the effort and, at the same time, be of low risk for the buyer, so he bites it.
$350-$400 sounds about right, doesn't it?
Everyone would ask for extra coverage for a couple of grand
