Agreed! That's why I have a few Heritage guitars, made in the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo with the old Gibson tooling and the old Gibson style of craftmanship. Some say that the Heritage instruments are the REAL Gibsons. http://www.heritageownersclub.com has some sweet guitar porn. Lower price, better woods, more consistent final build quality is the rep Heritage has. They're not perfect , nobody is. But they take the time building to be the best they can be. You will never get grief for owning one. They are soooo toneful!

Atlanta Discount Music carries a few Heritage guitars. I was able to play one that was basically a 335 that was about .75 inches thicker. Excellent fit and finish, wonderful action. Special order for someone else that let me play it. Nice guy. I am anxiously awaiting the LP models they have coming in. Classy is the word that comes to mind with Heritage guitars.

After I got my first "nice" guitar I went through a "only have the best" stage....but that was based on name. Recently I've realized that if a guitar feels right, thats all that matters. Doesn't matter if its a custom made 10k monster or a pawn shop special, buy what you love.

I just bought a fairly recent Gibson Dove acoustic that's stunningly good. I've been looking for the 'right' acoustic for ages and I never would have thought Gibson would be on the list, based on more than a few I've played - I just haven't been very impressed with their consistency, quality control - even on some of the more high-end stuff - or pricing. But they got this one right, and that's all there is to it.

My '96 LP Classic is my go to guitar. Bought it new at Gruhns Guitar in Nashville oh so many years ago. It has the tone, the feel, the vibe, and can pull off any style of music. Sounds great with any amp. Always get favorable comments on the tone.

Purchased many guitars since, but always go back to this one. Like an old comfortable lover, you don't have to tell each other what you want. It just responds.

It's beat all to hell, but i don't buy them as investments, I buy them to play them. Not gonna knock Gibbys around here.

You're gonna have to lump me in with the Gibson lovers. I have 2 LPs and 2 Explorers, and they're all keepers. I'd never (and I mean, NEVER) buy a Gibson sight unseen, and I played a lot of different Gibsons before I got the ones I now own, but they always satisfy. I used to like the Gibson pickups a lot, but all of mine have had pickups swapped out, and for the better.

Sounds like a good trade, though!
