Haven't spent a significant portion of my time with a Roadster, and having grown up in the Rectifier-heavy '90s, I have a strong love for the Dual Rectifier in general. The point of this post? I was sifting through punk videos on YouTube and came across some amazing Unwritten Law videos from 1998. They are recordings of the band playing live, and let me tell you -- it was bands like THAT, which put the Rectifier on the map for me.

In contrast, I also came across a great live clip of NoFX performing "Linoleum." Their Mark IV sound is pretty amazing too.

For me, it was Creed's "Human Clay" album. Say what you want about the album, I still love the tone on the album all these years later.

All the "grunge" and Seattle based bands I loved back then (still do) showed me the versatility of them. You put on Korn's "Life is Peachy"...Soundgarden's "Superunknown"...and Creed's "Human Clay" and you hear drastically different guitar tones, and they're all standard issue Rectos.

Mine was more of a fluke.

I researched what gear was being used by various bands I liked the sound of. I noticed a trend in that the majority of them were using or had used some sort of Mesa. I asked around about Mesas and was told to get a Recto.

That pretty much sums it up.

311 "Grassroots" Tour live sold me on the Rectifier. Little did I realize I wasn't going to get that early Dual Rec sound when I finally purchased a Single sometime later. Headaches later.

Pretty much the same for me

This is how I came to it. Although more specifically, the bands I most liked the sound of were using rectifiers not just some Mesa.

Quite a few years back as I starting serious gigging we opened for a great cover band playing Godsmack, Disturbed, Soil, Drowing Pool, Soundgarden, AIC etc. and I was completely blown away with the tone coming from a Les Paul, TS-9 and 2-channel Dual Recto.

The guitarist was super cool and I could stand directly infront of his 4 X 12 Recto Half-Stack during part of an earlier sound check.

I bought my first Mesa Rectifier (a Triple) & Rect 4 X 12 the following Monday

It was tax return time, it must have been meant to be (I told my wife).

+1 But the Foos sealed it for me. When I started looking, Mesa was what I wanted, but tracking one down, in good condition, at a good price took 2 months. I could not afford new.

2 months? Pfffttt.....I lusted after my roadster for 2 YEARS before I saved up enough to buy one new!

Does blowing 18 months of savings count?

Buckethead was my inspiration. He plays a triple rec these days and I just love the sound he gets on tracks like soothsayer and binge and grab.

He's back to Marshalls for touring in 2011.

I love my new "Multiwatt" Dual Rectifier because I can dial it in to sound like a modded JCM 800.

These amps are so much more versatile than most people realize. :D

I actually don't have settings, as it's not my main sound anymore. What I do remember was using channel two in vintage mode with the gain around 11 o'clock. Presence was a little on the high side. The recto was running EL34 tubes and pushing some good volume. It wasn't exact, but it sounded damn close.
