Hello all, I am new here (just found this forum today) and after reading many of these threads I had to join! So much info on these amps available from the great people here, I wish to thank all of of you up front for giving me an education on my new (old) amp.
I bought this DC-5 head off a guy in Maryland on eBay (maybe he's a member of these boards?) and absolutely love this amp! The simplicity of operation coupled with the pure Mesa TONE makes this the amp I have been searching for, for a long time now. I currently have a Peavey Valveking 100 head (which is for sale/trade) and a Bugera 6262 Head to compare this beast to and I feel there is no competition for my taste. I am currently running this through my Bugera 4x12 cabinet for a good fat, brutal sound.
Question: Is the only way to find the year of manufacture by calling Mesa/Boogie? I see the serial # on mine is 0960 but from searches online it seems there is no set way of dating the amp. Apparently they simply numbered them as the made them and shipped them so it's not a code or anything like other manufacturers.
