How's the turn around time been for sending Mark series amps back in to Mesa lately?

what tubes did they put in? they used a couple of JJ's and the rest unmarked (look like Chinese tubes but not the good 4th gen tones like I sent with mine)
oh an da tungsol re issue (made in Russia) in the PI (I had a Sovtek LPS for that, I didn't get that back either

I really didn't take a hard look at them. I was too irritated trying to get the amp back into the headshell. What a PITA.

I've had nothing but success working with Mesa Customer Service.
I had about a month turnaround from the day it left my house til the day I got it back with my Mark V 90. I had the well documented diodes issue on my 2009.
They also tested two full sets of tubes I sent. EL34 and 6L6's.
The only issue I had is that the bell housing on my main transformer has a pretty good dent in it that it didn't have previously.
I'm not sure how that would happen, or if I really want to know. But I made sure they documented it in case it becomes an issue somehow.
Anyway....
The fix was relatively inexpensive. $140.00 with return shipping. And now, it absolutely sounds better than any other time I've owned it since I purchased it 2016/2017. It would be nice if the repair technicians would take notes about the repair and the exact work they've done, and send that information back to the customer.

What kind of operation required 4.5 hours?

Here ya go ——

after stripping about 20% of the board and cleaning the cap leakage, that FU...CKS neglected to address.

And they did not upgrade the .1 400 caps at V5. or do much else Oh well.

With your power tubes and my pre tubes we seem to be working.
I tested with my FTSW box and it all works correctly. The trace from the 15 volt supply, where the caps were ripped out, lost connection under the board to the FTSW jack. Fixed that on top of the board. I would venture it will be OK with yourFTSW, BUT if your FTSW has shorted wiring it can burn the Trace (that I believe was just busted).

I left the bias pot, but mounted it securely on the board, instead of hanging it on a bundle of wires. WTF!

I will end by stating that if you have something broken, and you are going to throw it away after Fu..cks "repairs" it, then have at it. But I would not trust them to fix an empty cardboard box.

"fascinating.." and enlightening

ya Rich is gone :(
I've been dealing with someone named Kris, very responsive so far, so at least that's a plus , but I've got gigs coming up soon and I was hoping
to get this into the rotation :)

Kris D. is good to work with, from my experience. He’s been there at least since 2012 or so. He was also in a Fillmore demo video Mesa did a few years ago. He has some good chops!

He's been very pleasant and helpful in my dealings with him. Rich was a good guy, but I always got the impression that he secretly hated me

Just my 2 cents...Mesa received my Mark IIC+ this past December 2nd and I just got the tracking number for delivery next week on the 3rd or 4th of March so call it 90 days actually a bit less because they were shut down over the holidays as well.
I had Mike B. working on my amp and he completely went through everything and replaced a ton of components and could not have been more responsive back and forth via e-mail correspondence.
Needless to say I am excited to give her a run when delivered.

Would an authorized Mesa Boogie Repair Center in New Jersey be able to replace any weak or leaking parts on a working and sounding good Mark IV so I don't have to send it to the other end of the country ?
Sounds great been a bedroom amp since new but since I'm reading leaking this or that would like it looked over.
Dave's in Whippany seems to be the authorized repair here

Ive been to Dave's sound for my amps (simple stuff - Marshalls- awhile back now maybe, 15 years ago ) and bill for guitars - not sure if it will be done right by anyone- no one wants to take the board out and do it right - I would ask mesa for a couple of mesa authorized places to go in NJ - im sure Dave will come up on the list, see if there's someone else - I don't have faith in anyone other then Mesa - sorry to say

Remember I took mine to Fuchs and was sold new power tubes and told nothing else wrong - that cost me $300 - then it went to Mesa and Mike B went off - saying how could they not fix the stuff he was finding - 4 1/2 hours and another $450 to Mesa - money well spent IMHO

I live in the Southeast and spoke with two different authorized Mesa Service Centers in my region and was told by one, that at least for my amp (Mark IIC+ and I think for most Mark amps in general as well), that the parts and labor would be double at the authorized service centers than just biting the bullet and sending it back to Boogie just from a parts availability stand point alone. As was mentioned previously, no one really wants to take the board apart and do it right. That's all I needed to hear.
I have also had two other very competent amp techs work on my amp over the years and although they were able get the amp up and running again-they could not restore the tone that the amp was missing.

You should see the list of parts and components that Mike B. replaced when my amp was at Boogie...the amp is worth nothing if it doesn't respond and deliver the tone that it is capable of.

These amps are the holy grail for a reason, and we all know how finicky they can be. Send your amp to Boogie unless you can find the real deal out there and don't mind the cost.
