Hi there!

New to the forum but not really new to Boogies.

I have many amps and most are Marshall's and I have a JSX and Vox as well, anyway I got into a trade deal for one of my Marshall 1/2 stacks for a dual channel Dual Recto and a 4 x 12 Boogie cab (it's a monster compared to the Marshall cabs in terms of sheer weight!) and I feel I came out ahead on the deal. Great amp very pleased.

The dude I got it from claims he was the original owner and he purchased it in Santa Monica in 1996 I believe he said it was and all I'm trying to do is get a manufacture date.

I have my serial number but I've not been able to find anywhere on the net that can give me details about the year this amp was made etc.

R-003860

Thanks for any help!

By the S/N I am going to probaly say a 1993 or 94 model. Your best way would be to open up the amp and on somewheres on the inside of the amp you will see a date, example shown on my amp here.

Thanks siggy.

I spoke with Marcus over at Boogie today and he pretty much said the same thing.

By the way, this is completely random - are you selling a Recto on E-Bay? There's a Recto on E-Bay that's using that exact pic in your avatar. That Recto is R003342. If it is you, that one would be the exact same as the one you're asking about here, just made months apart actually.

That's a 94.

How did you determine that? Even Boogie doesn't have a database that goes back that far. I just spoke with them this am.

I saw it also but I assure you that is not my amp or cab and the pic in my avatar I took at my house yesterday.

siggy and I have seen hundreds of rectos over the years...He's pretty spot on about 94

What did they do to turn the diamond plate that color on the site? I might want to try that on mine.

Lots of photoshop trial and error while sitting in an apartment out of your hometown with no internet :D

I'm not siggy...Though we do live in the same area and have swapped amps quite frequently...

I know it's a '94 because one of the billions of Rectos I've had was R0037XX, which was made in April '94. This one is barely 100 off the line from that one I owned. For what it's worth, my most recent count was about 25-ish Rectos I've owned personally, and I wouldn't doubt that siggy has probably owned in the same ballpark.

True. You made a good call, but siggy was the first to respond to the post. 25 is a ridiculous lot. It sounds either like a love hate relationship or the ultimate tone quest!

ok so do you still have them all or why so many other than the fact that you must really like them?

Oh, I was just saying that because you were quoting a response to me by steelhorse, but talking about siggy. He said it was a '93 or '94, and he's spot on. I was just clarifying further.

To answer the other questions, I don't have them all. I also don't have any love/hate relationship at all with Rectos. I definitely love them, they're my favorite overall amp. I just love trying different ones. The most I've ever owned at once was 4.

As a 'new' to the dual recto fold owner I'm glad I wound with the one I did. It sounds great!

I wouldnt say I have had over 25, maybe around 10 or 15 throughout the years. Most of the time I am just picking them up for a good price, keeping them for awhile and then selling them. Right now I have 2 Recto's, my Roadking1 and my pre500.

You guys are impressive...I'm only on my 4th. A 3ch, D, C, E.

You'll have to let me know what you think of the E. As I think back, and as odd as it sounds, Rev E is the only one I've never owned (of the 2 channels). I've had at least 2-3 of all the others, but never really sought out an E before.
