Yo Stonge! Tried the Virt with the C+ yet?

I'm still working out settings on the C+ myself. It tends to want to be a little buzzier than the Mark IV. For general use I mostly put it into a "mid gain" range with a bit of V in the EQ, and use the volume on the guitar ( a PRS with lower powered pups) to clean up, or kick a BB preamp in for more gain. I haven't even been using it as much of a 2 channel amp at this point. The C+ does a nice job of cleaning up with volume, as long as you arn't hitting it with uber hot pups.

Update:

I was just playing with platy's settings from the other thread. I modified them a bit by pulling Vol 1 down to get a nearly pristine clean channel. You can then use the EQ in the classic "V", and the middle slider will basically govern how "heavy" of a sound you are getting. Works pretty well with the above mentioned PRS. I also always run in Simul mode, just because the amp seems to sound "fuller" no matter what the volume is.

Volume 1: 5 pulled
Treble: 6.5 pulled
Bass: 2 pulled
Middle: 2.5
Master 1: 2 pulled
Lead Drive: 8
Lead Master: 2 pulled

are these things that much cooler than mkivs? never even seen one in person. what do you owners think? how do they compare?

Both are pretty cool .. ones Alot more flexible and one sounds abit better.. Thats all.. They both even up.. I like both equally

Here's one solution to the optimum clean and lead sounds of the C+. But you'll **** near go broke buying patch cables and tubes, after the fact.

I have a Mark IVA as well, and they can be setup pretty **** close to each other. My C+ seems to be able to get somewhat heavier sounds than the IV, but the IV might be a tad smoother and is more versatile with all the options. Plus, this go round with the IV ( I've owned another before) I finally figured out how to make R2 work. OTOH, the C+ seems more responsive to pick attack and volume control.

I love the IV, but I might sell it. I bought the IV before the C+, and then a month later the opportunity to buy the C+ dropped in my lap. I also have a LoneStar, so I basically have more amps than I need at the moment. They are all cool, but I think the combination of the Lonestar for "R1" and "R2" and the C+ for "R3" makes more sense at the moment. Besides, I can always buy another IV, or maybe Boogie will come up my holy grail Mark V with lonestar R1 and R2 and Mark IV R3. :D

At first I have seen the ones that were modded to the C+ and never really liked em. Then the opportunity came up to finally get a REAL C+..so I wanted to see what the hype is. So I found a fully loaded one and I didn't really like it. Too Metallica-ie. Well I was playing mainly marshalls at the time and I was going to sell it (C+)..and then my marshall stop working momentarily. So I was forced to dial the C+ in. I have been hooked on mesa ever since (mark series). IIIs are pretty sweet and I have never played a I. But IVs and C+ are so far my fav. I wish I had a mark IV. I can't afford one right now though. They really are tweeker amps. I'll will try to post some photos of mine. I don't have a camera and I am waiting on my Thiele. but here are my settings.

vol 1: 6.5 (don't really pull this knob much)
treb: 6.8 (pulled for heavy/ not pulled for EQ out)
bass: 3.1
mid: 2.1
master: (pulled for my strat some times if sound is to thin)
L drive: 7.7 (pulled no foot switch at moment)
L master: 7.9 (pulled)

EQ: V (out for good leads)
750 fader is my thickness control. I adjust it for the type of room I am in or if bass player is drwning me out (which was hardly ever until he finally got a Mesa rig)

what's Virt?

Hmm... I thought you were the same "Stonge" I know from other boards. My Bad! :D

A "Virt" refer's to a Hamer Virtuoso, an 80's 36 fret shredalistic guitar:
