It all depends on the guitar, it sounds quite bright with my tele but it's perfect for my LP and my PRS :)

I'm all about bright too, I do love the stock Ace after all which most people say is SUPER bright :D

Did you like it at least?

Tuna, what kind of Lace Sensors are in your Tele? Golds?

To tell you the truth, I really don't remember for sure and I don't have the guitar with me. I'm pretty sure they are the Lace Sensor "golds". The Tele is an American 1996 Telecaster Plus (anniversary model). It has 3 single coil pickups, maple neck, and a bound body. The neck and middle pickups have silver covers. The neck pickup is smaller than the other two. The bridge pickup has the regular Lace black plastic cover. The pickups are all stock. It also has a mini-toggle that switches on the bridge pickup, so you can have all 3 on at one time.

Generally speaking, the pickups sound good and are noise-free. Their only drawbacks are that they are are slightly less twangy than regular single coils, and sometimes I get a strange overtone "squeel" when they are muted - it's a tough noise to describe. Overall, I'm satisfied with the tone of them in my Tele.
