Hi there everyone,

I am new to this board, but need your advice, so please help if you have ever come across this one.

I bought my Mesa Lonestar Special 2x12 over a year ago here in the UK second hand.

Up until now I haven't used the reverb as I usually play dry, However I wanted to use it today and noticed that it is basically inaudible on either channel.

So I checked the pan and it had no broken connections, also swapped over the 12AX7s to see if any were duds. Still no reverb.

When you turn it up and shake the cabinet you can hear the reverb clunk, but when you play it has pretty much no discernible effect on the guitar sound?

I use an old Mesa Studio Preamp in the studio all the time and that baby is thick with reverb. So I was really dumb founded by my amp refusing to give me the lush reverb that I was expecting.

This amp however sounds dry as a bone....

Any suggestions fellow Boogie lovers?

Thank you for reading my woes and I look forward to your opinions.

Jef

hmmm...I was going to suggest checking the pre amp tubes since that was the culprit when I had no reverb.

do you notice any change when switching the reverb warm/bright switch. might be a problem there.

hopefully, someone more tech-minded will chime in

No unfortunately the switch really doesn't do anything. The reverb on this amp is non existent really.

I just saw a similar post on here and I'm not sure what exactly is happening with these amps...

I have the 1x12 combo and the reverb is pretty spacious even on lower settings. I'm currently using the warm setting.

definitely see if you can take it in to a local service ctr to have it looked at.

there is a jack on the bottom of the chassis which can be used to switch the reverb on/off. maybe somehow it was switched off???

sorry I'm of no help :(

No your helping by reinforcing the fact that my reverb is non existant.

I have tried the footswitch thing, the tube swapout and the checking the reverb pan, but still no joy.

Just sent an email to Mesa's international support....

The other guy(other similar thread) is now focusing on the pot. But the switch may be suspect also. I would follow that thread's instruction(if you haven't already) for basic trouble shooting issues before changing out any pots or switches. There is also Mesa boogie tech support.

My reverb sounded the same way so I opened up the tank and found out that one of the springs had torn itself loose under the abuse. Check inside the tank if all else fails.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'm going to have a good look at her today and check out the other thread properly too!

You guys are all really helpful by the way and I appreciate that a lot.

:D
