Guys, been a boogie board member for a while now, great forum. I have an Express 5:50 that has not been right pretty much just after the warranty ran out, we only get a year here in the UK.

The problem was with intermitted sudden loss of volume not power, it would do it when it felt like it, right in the middle of a gig, behave itself for a month or two then start doing it again until finally a month ago, every time I switched the amp on, it would sound like someone had fired up a blow torch inside it.

The bottom line is it had to go back to Boogie or Westside Distribution, they use a guy called Dennis Marshall who is their resident tech. He helped through some previous fixes, sticking effects loop socket, screen grid resistors falling out! He called yesterday and said he had fixed the problem. There is a faulty component within the Express PCB I forget it;'s exact name but I'll mail him and ask him and post the answer.

If any of you have these kinds of symptoms get it back to boogie and save yourself a long time of intermittent hassle....the good news is that when they swap it out it will sound better than ever!

This is good to know. My amps is fine, but you never know. I wonder if it effects all the amps or just amps for certain markets?

I am having the intermittent loss of power also. When mine losses volume it is accompanied by a Fizz or Fuzzy sound.I took it to the local guru around here who is Mesa certified , and he could find nothing...All tubes have been replaced???? No idea?? any suggestions?

My amp went back to the dealer, who after a week or so of troubleshooting has returned it to Mesa. They have had it three weeks. I will let you all know what I find out when I get it back.
