I play jazz/blues/classic rock...would the HB be a good fit?

Anyone know how much the head version weighs? Also, do Heartbreakers seem to like single-coils or humbuckers better?

I love my HB for blues/classic rock. I have heard they are great for Jazz. I have the combo version, so I can't comment on the weight of the "head" but I would assume that it weighs just as much as the mark series of heads. aka the "back" breaker

I am toying with a C90, V30 combo in mine and I will post results after my 1st gig in this setup.

If you are looking for the "overdriven" strat sound, a nice OD works well. I use a TS9 as a clean boost and it adds more "oomph" to the lust channel

We play a mix of J.J. Cale, John Prine and the Dead... just to name a few.

Very versatile for blues/classic rock (two thumbs up)

also don't forget the possible tube configs. I am running 6l6's at the moment but I plan on using 6v6's to open it up at smaller venues.

Thanks!

The head is very heavy but compact.

This amp I have trouble to set a good tone until I read that it was more a blues amp and then I got great tones. Is dark in the sound but to me I feel that it takes single coils excellent.

The amp is very loud and have a great headroom to play with it so for clean will do very good.

Personnaly my favorite is the Maverick 4x10, but finally found great tones out the HB, it took me a while.

The Heartbreaker is as versatile as your imagination.. John Scofield and Prince both use them. I own 2 (head & combo)!   8) 8) 8)

I hooked my heartbreaker up to my standard 4x12 and man o man it was really humming. :) I tried what the manual suggests: max volume and treble, set presence to 5 o clock and crank mids and you get a nice OD.
I turned the lust channel into my clean.

What are the rest of you heartbreaker users using

clean = love? dirty = lust? or vice vers?

Thanks!

Now I just have to find one!
E-mail me if you encounter a working Maverick on your search. :D I don't care if its a 1-12" combo, head (either size), or 2x12" combo.

I just put 6V6's in my Heartbreaker combo hooked up a Tech 21 XXL & a Vox Brian May Special amp as a boost, ...who needs Viagra!? I'm cutting Diamonds here!   8) 8) 8)

My HB 2x12 combo produces a tone of fantastic sounds-cleans not quite as good as the Lonestar, great old school leads. Not really exactally like anything-similar to Mark I, but it a Heartbreaker. I love mine-my only problem with it is you cannot coax modern recto-ish sounds out of it. I'm going to try the Brian May Vox as pre-amp, but I'm getting a Roadster. Atomic Music in Beltsville MD has a nice HB combo-but the reverb tank was not working last week when I saw it. They said they were going to fix it.

By the way, I use my lust channel for cleans, and love with a ts9 for leads with my tele. I use lust for everthing with my prs. There are so many great sounds in there it is hard to narrow down whats going to work on a gig-you have to memorize alot so you can switch and dial up your sounds-it's kind of a pain.

What do you mean?
I'm assuming you'll be searching for a HeartBreaker => E-Bay, Craiglist, Pawn Shop, Gbase, etc ... if you ever see a MESA Boogie Maverick while searching for your Heartbreaker, let me know.

But I'm half kidding ... you don't have to e-mail or inform me.

Probably the nicest one I've come across:

:D Thanks nosajwp, very clean and includes 2x12" enclosure, so I guessed that justify the price. That about going price. But dang, only local sell only, no shipping out. :?

I've been talking to them about it, and they will ship...you just have to contact them about it and sign a waiver or something. That one's been there a while.
