Did a couple of gigs in the last weeks, blew fuses each occasion. At rehearsal yesterday Ch 2 became very noisy w crackle, and Ch 1 output is considerably less volume than I remember. Anyone else notice large output differences between Ch1 and Ch2? Not including engaging the boost switch on CH1 which is a crazy loud increase. I just changed tubes in V1, V4, and V6. The tubes that were already in V4 and V6 looked pretty well used (old paint schemes from MB and GT). Ch1 still seems somewhat quiet, but improved and unwanted Ch 2 noise is gone. Maybe those positions have been contributing to issues all along. I will note if there is worthwhile news on fuses. For the interested, current order of replacements:
V1 Mesa SPAX7
V2 Svetlana 12AX7
V3 JJ 12AX7
V4 EH 12AX7
V5 Mesa 12AX7
V6 Mesa 12AX7
V7 Mesa 12AX7

I may mess with that some more. Thanks to everyone here for help and advice! -b

Man that sucks! Hope you got it figured out.
Along that same sad note, I tried to use my HB yesterday afternoon and the footswitch jack was broken!
Good thing my Maverick hasn't sold yet I guess.

Have you tried using the Diode setting without a rectifier tube in the amp?
It won't have anything to do with your noise issue, but mine hasn't blown a fuse since I took the rec tube out.

Bummer about the FSW jack, yikes.
Yeah, and I use the Silicon Diode rectifier setting often, especially when it's acting weird or blowing fuses, or if I'm playing some place where the power looks or sounds a little suspect (I really do prefer the Tube setting and use whenever I can). Switching between them is really a great feature to have.
I've been thinking ... eliminating the JJ branded 5AR4 helped for a while, but right now I have a Mesa 5AR4 in place. I wonder where Mesa is sourcing their 5AR4s?

I think they used to be Sovtek, but can't remember.

Footswitch jack was a good excuse to open it up and do a couple of things.
I made it so that the Trim/Fat on the Lust channel is footswitchable while I was in there.

Im getting a loud intermittent distortion when i play a note or chord, especially when its at high volume or i strike the note hard. what happens is I hit the note, and then i hear what sounds like a white noise distorted sound that lasts for a second, then it stops. then i hit a note hard again, and another 1/2 second or 1 second of loud distortion then stops. it doesn't seem to happen nearly as bad or at all if im at low volumes or not pushing the amp to hard.

Sorry this is so old....but.....

This is a textbook description of a speaker going bad, perfect picture of voice coil rub.

Wonder if this guy ever found out what the issue was?
