Has anybody played a Fuchs?

I've played thru one the other day. I can't tell you much since some other guy (store owner) was tweaking the knobs as I checked the guitar out (not in an a$$hole way. I was just checking out the guitar and didn't want to bother with amp much so he was setting things up for me). Although the tones he dialed in were too bright for my taste, I know for a fact that that amp is capable of tones I like. It was the overdrive supreme or whatever it's called. I'll pay more attention if I check it out again.

I recently bought the TDS100 head. It is a different animal than any Mesa amp. The clean channel is swirly, 3-D sounding. The three voicing switches give you the ability to set it up for Wes Montgomery warm to Country jangle. I have mine set with the deep, Bright on and in the Jazz setting with the Treble at 1'o'clock, Mid at 12 o'clock, and bass at 1 o'clock. The Reverb is lush and is in parallel so your tone is never comprimised. The Crunch and Lead channels share the EQ and Voicing settings, but it is not a problem. They sound fantastic and there is plenty of range in the gain controls. It comes with a loop that can be set from series to parallel and a "sag" switch similar to Mesa's bold/spongy switch. The low end is not like a MK or Rectifier. It is more like the low end on the LSC lead channel. The touch sensitivty is what makes this amp shine IMO
This amp is a perfect compliment to any Mesa IMO. It gets tones that the Mesa's are just not voiced for and vice/versa

I've played an ODS and a Train 45 and a Lucky 7. They have a cool vibe all their own. I like the latter two because they're trainwreck inspired and I love that tone.

Have a Fuchs dealer not far from me. I have played most of the models now and think they are good sounding amps but would call them WAY overrated.

There are also 6 of the 21 that they have stocked sitting in the repair shop. Pretty flimsy cabinet design.

I'm going to be staying away.

Where are you located?

Two amps brought there first one thought honest mistake- they forgot to solder in a pot they replaced- second amp - Mesa MKIV- brought it back three times - they took my tubes said they were bad - gave me mixed brand power tubes - still, amp was screwed up- spook to Mike B - sent him pics - and he got mad - told me they’re not an approved Mesa tech - and he’s had issues with them before- he just finished my amp - and went off again how bad my amp was and parts that should have been fixed and were not touched- leaky caps messy silicone mess to mount the bias pot - a mod I asked Fuchs to do - I let it go till I got the email last night from Mike B - IMHO- stay away

They are developed from the basic Dumble ODS topology, but they do NOT sound like a Dumble. If that's what you want, look elsewhere.

Whether you like them or not is a matter of taste. Lots of tweak ability, but I couldn't get a sound I liked much. It was....ok. YMMV.

Build quality is decent through hole pcb. Not on the level of a friedman pcb, but better than a lot.

Tech wise, I found them difficult to deal with and fairly unresponsive, and found Andy Fuchs to be a volatile personality, so keep that in mind if it ever needs service. Costs more to have a tech like me try to map out a 3 layer PCB to do a mod or repair because the manufacturer is uncooperative. It's one of my pet peeves as an amp tech.
