I saw Cobain do the smash-my-stuff thing at a show - turns out the cabs were dummies - empty. I could tell because they had no backs, and you could see the light shining through the four holes where the speakers should have been. At least Townsend and Hendrix wrecked the real deal (and their poor roadies patched the gear up for the next show!)

Yea, that's because Randall and the guys crammed so much gain in there that when the gain knob is dimed the amps would spontaneously combust.

This could cost you your life. Fire would melt cable insulators, you may find yourself with cathode voltage (around 400 VDC) connected directly to your guitar's strings. The amp wouldn't be the only smoking thing then.
