I currently have a late 80's halfback cab (fully closed back at the moment actually) loaded with 4 EVM-12L's with my Mark III. I've been thinking about swapping it for a V30 loaded Recto 412 to get that fat warm crunch that I'm currently not getting with the EVM's. They are great, but I'm noticing they are a bit harsh and loud sometimes. Should I just sell my cab and pick up the recto, or just swap out the speakers in the halfback? How would the frontmount vs backmount affect the tone? Also anyone try V30's mixed with EVM's?

I reckon two EVMs in the bottom half running closed back and two Mesa C-90s in the top running open back would do it for ya. 'specially if you mic the C-90 rather than the EV.

I dont rate either V-30s or the Recto cabs. Too harsh yet ill defined for me. Metal grille Mesa half backs are where its at for me...
