Well, I´ve heard worse demos of the Mark V - but the poor guy should have read the manual:

"This switch is active only in the MARK I Mode and does not affect EDGE or CRUNCH."

He´s toggling the switch in EDGE and CRUNCH mode, with no sonic differences :)

But he obviously has no idea how to set up the 3rd channel, way to flubby (probably the bass knob way to high).

I was wondering when Guitar World was going to get around to reviewing the Mark V. Besides not knowing about Channel 2's "Mark I Normal" and "Mark I Thick" voicings, I think he does a great job up until the 3rd channel. You can see by the settings in the amp that he has the bass dialed in way to high.

I haven't even gotten to the playing yet. In the first clip, half of what he says is wrong. You'd think he would read the manual and learn the features of the gear he's reviewing, but I guess that's not "rock & roll" enough for him.

Oh Boy.

It´s not all bad, but the sounds he´s getting from channel 3 are simply terrible, and don´t do the amp any justice...

Mmm...this guy was up on my credibility list before this review...
He totally ignores how to set up ch 3. :?

This just proves that the Marks are tweakers amps. You simply can´t set them up the same way you do with most other amps.

Ya it's pretty clear that he didn't do very much research before demoing this. Kind of insulting and amazing that the Mark V requires that much work.

What? Paul has a new review crapping up the sound of yet another piece of guitar equipment that is made to sound like every other review by the even crappier post production team at GW?

Paul's job is to review gear. Lots of gear..., you folks need to realize that he is not a Mesa Mark V cork sniffer.

I agree, which is why I, for one, am not complaining about the tones. I'm just saying he could get the features right. It only takes a few minutes to breeze through the manual.

Going by your logic, his job is to do a **** good review of every piece of gear, as he is paid to do so regularly. That channel 3 tone is putting it quite frankly one of the worst channel 3 tone on a Mark V I've ever heard...

What is the value of a review made by someone who doesn't understand what they are reviewing?

Exactly my thoughts on the matter. If I owned an Uberschall and saw this review of the Mark V, I would not be convinced that the Mark V is better than my current amp.

The fact that Paul couldn't even get an Axe-Fx Ultra to sound good should be proof enough of his incompetence.

That is all.
