Ahhh! The Raleigh GC is on fire! Save the guitars...

"Police say a fire has broken out in a business at 3100 Capital Blvd. in Raleigh. At least 13 fire trucks have responded. There are no injuries. The fire is causing traffic backups in the area. The Guitar Center is listed at that address."

"Jump by your will or be taken by force "

Hopefully they'll burn to the ground! Never been a fan of the Walmart of guitar shops, due to the fact I generally have far more experience and knowledge than most of the staff, not to mention the lack of botique equipment. You want top quality guitars check out Ed Roman in Vegas

STOP, STOP, STOP WITH THE PUNS ALREADY!

You guys are driving me SANE! (and believe me, nobody wants that!!!)

These are my brains......
and these are my brains, "fried & burnt" on Boogie Board.....

i'll be driving up the nearby guitar center...for firewood.

I have a funny GC story. when I had just started playing the guitar, I wanted to buy a guitar stand. Probably one of the 5 things I've ever bought from them in the past 6 yrs...anyway, there was one for $9 and one sitting next to it for $21. They looked almost the same except the $21 one was bit fatter. A salesman walked up and asked me which one I wanted. I obviously wanted the cheaper one. He said "Dude, dont get this one. This is not good. Get the more expensive one. See, how the guitar can easily fall off if you put it on this one?" and try as hard as he might, he could not tip the guitar. My wife was looking the other side obviously laughing. He kept trying a good 5 - 10 times. I said that it was ok and he could stop trying. I bought the cheaper stand. I have the stand and to this day a guitar is yet to fall off it.

There are various threads on GC stories here at the 'Board'.....mostly on how they have gone "down hill" over the past few years.

Too bad, too.

They used to be my favorite store (rated even higher than Home Depot! ). Now I don't buy much from them, burnt or not ( )! The reason is they just don't carry as much as they used to.....you have to go on-line to order these days. it seems. In fact their inventory has depleted so much that maybe that store did not loose too much in the fire, after all!

yeah, i believe you. I remember there used to be $10000 guitar tags on old gibsons, $4500 PRS's in glass cases. Now there are only used Fenders, Jacksons, Schecters and the like. The problem is, they allowed everybody to touch, play, scratch the guitars and suddenly no one wants to buy a used guitar tagged as New. :)
