yeah, i believe you. I remember there used to be $10000 guitar tags on old gibsons, $4500 PRS's in glass cases. Now there are only used Fenders, Jacksons, Schecters and the like. The problem is, they allowed everybody to touch, play, scratch the guitars and suddenly no one wants to buy a used guitar tagged as New. :)

all depends on the location... lucky me through my business travels i have been to a lot in a lot of very different locations. I will say those of us in the NJ/NY tri-state area are lucky considering some of the one's i've been to in the boonies of california. The one i frequent the most actually has some incredible guitars and always has a nice stock of Mesa amps. Unfortunately MOST guitar centers are complete **** holes with people who dont know a bugera from a bogner and whose management put out single rectifiers with broken switches and knobs out on the floor with price tags higher than if they were brand new.

Now, now. Relic'd amps are the latest craze. :p

San Diego had one years ago in El Cajon that was really killer. But now they have these cramped 'drive-thru' like shops with beat-up low end stuff that is geared toward 1st time buyers. The knowledge of the workers has to be at an all-time low. At the GC in Fort Wayne, In. the 'guitar tech' had never heard of a loop switcher or switchable router as some call them. Had a short conversation with the manager and he was unmoved by the fact that his staff had such little knowledge/experience. They don't get my dollars anymore.
