My head will be in next week. And of course I'm out of town next week for work training. But I'll be in LA for the week so i can try and visit Mesa Boogie of Hollywood and maybe a few other joints. Can anyone recommend anything?

Dude, if you're out here in LA and have a a few hours (better yet a whole afternoon) to kill just take a walk from the Mesa Store on Sunset Blvd to all the other stores around. There are several vintage shops and specialty stores within walking distance. Make sure to check out the Carvin store a few doors down. Very under rated geetars IMO. Sam Ash and Guitar Center have HUGE stores there. The Guitar Center vintage room is great, but a little pricy. And dont forget the pawn shops...

This! On the same block you will find all of those music stores, GC, Sam Ash, Carvin, Mesa Boogie, all within VERY short walking distance. If you get a chance to head to Orange County, check out Tone Merchants :D

Stores are Bo-ring - and if you are looking for deals - craigslist has thankfully killed all the deals to be had on Sunset. Black Market Music was great for treasure hunting - but you are several years too late to see it. Anyhoo... Go get an LA Weekly and check out some crappy L.A. bands farther down sunset (go west 1-2 miles from GC/Mesa) at the Whiskey or The Roxy. House Of Blues is a great room (they usually are). Viper room is smaller than an outhouse and totally overrated --- unless you are the headliner. The key question is where in L.A. WILL YOU BE. It is not like NYC - it is sprawling and big and you need wheels to get anywhere.

Congrats Dan! Too bad you have to wait. Mine should be here on Friday. Can't wait!

All that means is some crafty individual like me will be in your local Boogie dealer going "Yeah, I'm danyeo1, I'm here to pick up my Mark 5!" 8)
