New day, new ears. This sounds good to me today.

This is through my Peavey Classic 50/50.

Peavey Classic 120/120 with EL34L's.

Classic 50/50 with less resonance, and more presence.

Bass is too woofy. You are using a Classic 50/50 power amp right? It sounds like the resonance knob is on "10."

For the tone you are trying to achieve it sounds like you need a 6L6 based amp.

YES, it's on 10! \m/

But really, I could prolly wack down the proximity effect from the mic a little more.

Here's the same riff on a Peavey Classic 120/120 with EL34L's. Maybe you'd like that better?!

This is what most people will like I'm sure.

Classic 50/50 with less resonance, and more presence.

I still like a bigger bass though.

yeah, there's a little too much bass for my tastes... however it seems to me the tone you get is very rich, would like to hear it double-tracked if that helps smoothening that cool but maybe (always for my tastes) excessive crispness.

How's this?

It still sounds boomy and woofy on the palm mutes and a lot of the bass notes. Maybe try backing off some bass and gain.

Mark series amps are known for tightness and this is far from tight.
