Fancied something a little simpler and bit more vintage sounding, so the MV has been exchanged for en Electra Dyne head, I also got a brand new Fender Supersonic head in with the deal that I'll probably (Probably...) move on.
Played it for a good while yesterday and love the ease with which great tones are dialled in, really just plug and play!
any tips for a newbie Dyne owner would be greatly appreciated! 8)

A good quality true-bypass OD pedal (Fulltone OCD or similar) used sparingly will turn the Dyne into a six channel beast. Try some good quality EL-34's like the SED Winged =C= for a slightly different flavor in tone. The clean channel will not sound as "glassy", but the gain channels are awesome with these EL-34's and a good OD pedal. YMMV

Congratulations. These are awesome amps. You might want to buy a good ABY box and run the ED and Supersonic together before selling it. The Supersonic is a very good head as well. I love running two amps together. It really sounds huge and just adss something that one amp can't get. I plan to buy another head in the future to do this with and the Supersonic is one I'm considering. I'm also considering a Marshall 1987XL. Whatever I decide, I will install power tubes in the ED that are opposite of the othe head. I.E., 6L6's if I get the Marsahall and vice versa.

Another pedal I highly recommend using with the ED is a Keeley modded Boss BD-2. The pedal is very transparent and doesn't change the character of the ED. You can use it as a clean boost and increase the gain to get many levels of saturation, all the way to fuzz tones. Great pedal. I currently use one for rythem and I have another being modded to use as a lead pedal also.

Must admit it takes some getting used to not having to do, er, anything! So used to tweaking the Mark V I dont know what to do anymore! Im already missing the solo function though, think ill almost certainly be getting a boost for this, maybe a beano or similar.

Haha, why not spend all the time you spent tweaking practicing instead?

Fancy finding you over here, Sted - seen you over on MLF before. Recommendations? Play with the clean volume and gain trim controls on the back. Also, reverb sucks with gain IMO, so you might want to get a single button footswitch to have the ability to have reverb when you're on clean.

Most people here find having the volume (gain) around 3:00 gives the best balance between all three modes, so you may be interested in giving that a try, but everyone finds a balance. Most of all, enjoy not tweaking everything!

Hi mate! Yeah, been dwelling in the MV areas mostly, loved that amp but could never find a happy medium between practice/rehersal/gigging so i drove the band up the wall by messing with settings all the time! really impressed with the Dynes drive channels at present, the cleans arent that great to my ears but ill do some more tweaking at rehearsal on sunday.
