This may be already answered elsewhere, so I am sorry if this question has already been answered. I have a set of El 34's (mesa 447) from the grey colour batch. My amp takes tubes from the yellow colour batch. Will I be risking serious damage by using the EL 34's?

The reason they are from the wrong batch is I forgot to look when I bought them. It was one of my smart days.

Also, If I were to get a Bias mod, how much am I looking at?

My amp is a single rectoverb 1x12 series 2 combo amp.

One last question, I know that I cannot put KT 66's in my amp due to space limitations. What about KT 77's or KT 88's?

Thanks in advance for the info.

You won't damage your if you put in gry el34. As long they are mesa tubes you are good to go. Different color doesnt have any tonal effect(according to mesa).

The colors are designed to match individual tubes to each other.
Any yellow matches any other yellow, green to green, grey to grey, etc.
That's ALL the colors mean.
Unless you have a really old Boogie. Really old.

No, mine is only about 2 years old. It's funny though, I had a set of power tubes from the red colour batch once, and they did have a negative impact on my amps sound. Maybe I didn't give them long enough to burn in. I don't change tubes very much, so everytime I do, that new tube smell freaks me out! I keep forgetting about that one.
