Just received my cables in the mail today... check back soon for my review, fwiw.

I'm curious to hear what you have to say. Any luck with the cables yet?

Here's what I came up with fwiw ...

Planet Waves Classic (ECONOMY CABLE)
bass strings are muddy
midrange is fair
highs are thin and borderline scratchy when played hard
compared to the other cables, this sounds slightly dull with no overtones
I give this cable a C, now that I've heard the others

Sommer Spirit (MID-GRADE CABLE)bass strings are clear and defined
midrange is better with improved sustain
highs are rounder, and stay smooth when played harder
sounds full, balanced, and smooth
easy to hear each string clearly
strong overtones & harmonics
I give this cable a B+

Van de Hull Integration Hybrid (HIGH-END CABLE)bass strings are crystal clear and deep at the same time
midrange is very open with great sustain
highs are fat and lush
this cable has an open tone with great dynamics & overtones
fundamental notes decay into rich harmonics
this cable is the very best way to connect your prized instrument to the amp or PA
I give this cable an A+
This comparison really opened my eyes to the truth that cables do matter.

I've been using the van huls for a year now they are truly awesome.

Why would you spend $4000 - $5000 grand on the very best gear, meaning Mesa, then only spend $20.00 on a pos GC or monster cable???

I said the same thing in this thread earlier.

One last point. Why would someone pay $1-2K (or more) on an amp and god knows what on guitars and than toss in a $10 cable? I never understood this.

Great write up! It's good to know that someone with an open mind was willing to try this little experiment.

+1 on the Evidence Audio Lyric HG. They are pricey and stiff as well but they sound great.

I use Monster cables simply because if/when one goes out I can always find a Guitar Center around to exchange it at. My pedal board has 5 devices, I use the Rocktron Xpressions in my effects loop and I don't run Monster between any of that stuff. Just from my guitar to the board and board to the amp. Still, I get a great sound with either my DC-5 or Stiletto Ace using PRS Custom 24 or Dean USA Hardtail. My ears just can't tell the difference between a $30 cable and a $100 cable. That being said, I would never buy a cheap $10 cable either.

Maybe it's like drinking wine. A non wine drinker may have trouble appreciating a good bottle of wine like someone who hasn't learned to appreciate the high end cables. I rather hope I don't learn to appreciate the mega expensive cables because I don't need something else to go broke over.

Yeah, the stiffness is the only complaint I have. I really wish they had a bit more flexibility. The sound is crystal clear though.
