So on of my never ever, ever used EL-34s blew last night. Lots of rattles, pops and general noise... clearly a tube. My initial thought is that I would swap the Yellow Jackets in the 10 and 50 watt positions because clearly I blew the 10 watt tube. I'm only ever in the 10 watt setting.
That didn't work.
It turned out to be one of the EL34s. I had another duet handy so this was no big deal.
However, how can one of those tubes be the one that blew? Any ideas?
