I love the Dual Rec sound and I'm shopping around. I played a used Tremoverb with some kind of Voodoo mod and it sounded great thru a Marshall 1960A cab with GT-75's (I assume). But I'm wondering about 3 things.

1. I think I could use a 3rd channel, I play in a cover band and I could use a clean channel although I'm getting by right now with a JCM-800 and my guitar volume, so this isn't necessarily a deal breaker, but it has me thinking about a 3 channel.

2. The effects loop. I've been using my JCM and a Boss GT-10 in 4CM for reverbs, delays, etc. in the loop. The Tremoverb has a parallel loop which may or may not work for me ( I don't know, I guess I'll have to try it)

3. SOLO- I definitely need a footswitchable solo level ctl since we don't have a soundman, I need to control my lead boosts myself. I think this may be doable with the "loop Active Master" but I think it may only work the way I want it to by turning the FX on or off...which is too limiting.

It sounds like I just need a DR Solo head but don't know if the Tremoverb sounds any different, but what do you think? I've always been a Marshall guy so I'd like to hear from the Mesa camp.

Actually, I just called Voodoo and they said it has the Deluxe Mod which includes the MM output transformer.

Thanks!

Sounds like the 3 channel dual rec would work for you. Try to find one with the serial f/x mod. I found it annoying to say the least to try and negotiate the parallel f/x loop. If you don't have an issue, you could run the effects in front of the amp like I do.

I thought that because it has a parallel fx loop, using a boost in the loop would only boost a part of the signal...???

I would recommend running an Overdrive or boost pedal to give you the extra sound you are looking for.... It will acctually give u at least four different sounds just running it in front of your amp. I always keep mine right next to my channel footswitch so I can stomp both pedals at the same time if need be, for example to go from my boosted dirty channel (solo sound) back to my clean unboosted tone

If i remember correctly converting the loop to serial requires resoldering one wire. It's pretty simple.

I love the solo boost. It's way more effective (and sonically more impressive) than trying to boost a high gain amp with an overdrive pedal.

I have a 2 channel Recto and a Roadster. The features on the Roadster make it more useful for gigging.
