I can't believe they really did it.

but it has 24 frets...I might consider purchasing one....(don't make fun of me!)

I'm annoyed at their marketing hype...along the lines of "the perfect marriage of woods that we discovered 50 years ago." And stuff like "the tailpiece that shocked the world in 1954." That news is only how old, 50 YEARS!! The guitar is very cool, but is Gibson really so un-innovative that they have to preach about things they did over 50 years ago? Compare this to PRS, who is making new models each year, changing inlays, changing pickups, advancing tuning pegs, adjustable stop tail bridges, etc....

It's $4311. Gee, I'll take two.
It's also a %#@&* baritone. It has a 27" scale. No, really.

considering MSRP it will probably cost around $2600 from retailers....which is not bad IMO

24 frets, killswitchs, and the guitar looks like a giant gay wedding cake...it has everything I wanted from Gibson (says my fanboy alter ego).

While arguing about this with my Jemsite buddies, I still think it should have fret binding and white hardware personally, but still pretty sexy dressed in all white with the white trim. I'm sure its a shredder's delight!

I can't believe Gibson went through with it but didn't put Dimarzios in it!

Buckethead doesn't use crap gibson pickups.

if gibson sells a thousand of these they will be happy. there has to be at least that many buckethead fans that will buy one.

I just saw a show about how stuff is made, featuring the Les Paul. It's really amazing how the factory is just a big wood shop, and the way they just chunk these things out. Really makes me wonder why anyone thinks they're worth a much as they pay for them.

Hi
Another gibson machine made that sounds like the rest of them piece of crap!!!!!
I will make yet more$$$$$$$$$$ fixing broken headstocks on this model too.
when will people get past the name on the guitar and let there ears decide.

Where is your spirit? Come on buy on of those super zoon SGs, or a robot guitar.
Just kidding with you.
That is why gibson is scrambling, they do own alot of other brands, yet not close to all the ones affiliated with Fender.
What does gibson have to offer other than what Les Paul , Ted mcarty, and a few unsung heros that launched gibsons success. Now they are realizing you can't just keep making the best items worse over the years, while spending money,
trying to sell reversed flying Vs , guitars that you download the sound of your hero through your computer, I am so warm and fuzzy now. So they have the LP,ES,and sgs, right down to the $799.00 mark, or wll over the 3K mark give or take.
They found out oops, our poor quality and customer service, YES, I know there are a few exceptions, is no longer
able to sustain a company who sat back and let some great guitars get worse over the last 50+ years .
I think it might be a bit late. Time will tell, and it will not be long.

Simply wait until they are selling in the clearance section, where most of their great "inovations" have ended up, and buy it for around 1k, that is if you even want to. I would not take a chance even at that price just to try it out and then sell it on ebay. Well you could, but who wants to try out a guitar and lose 4-5 hundred bucks.

Yeah people tend to think of these craftsmen painstakingly hand build these things. You're looking at computerized routing for most of the stuff. I don't care though. I love my Les Paul Classic and it was worth any penny.

The CNC woodworking machines can produce a more consistant part, day to day, than the human hand. The key to it is proper setup, operation and maintenance of said machine. This is where the quality factor comes into play. A poor machine setup or sloppy operator will negate the benefits of this machinery. The PLEK system will be much more accurate than the human eye when leveling the frets. But, again it comes down to the final operator of this machine. There is a certain amount of "human element" that remains in any type of production, to some extent. The CNC machines cost mucho dollars, and these companies have to recoup their investments, although I still agree that the Gibsons are a bit overpriced. My Tom Anderson guitars have some CNC work for sure, and the quality is second to none. 8)

Sadly it's been many years since Gibson built að decent guitar. Even more sad is to see them dragging their name through the mud with poor build quality. They have gone from superior to something a lot less. I'd have no problems putting a mid to upper level LTD against their custom shop guitars only to find that a cheap label like LTD is building better guitars than Gibson custom shop.

It's a sad sad thing cause I have had this dream since puberty, me standing on stage with a black LP custom strapped on. Well luckily Esp are making some mean LP style guitars for a fraction of the price so I can add a stripper to my chilhood dream now
