Any one know the best way to set up a G Major & Mark IV to use channel switching?
I would like to get some good effects and it seem like a somewhat cheap way to go.
I don't know all the other components I would need to make this work (besides a midi pedal board.) and if the added costs of the other components would make it not worth it.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks, Jeff

all you need is a stereo Y cable and a midi controller and you should be good to go

run the stereo Y cable from the G-Major footswitch to the mark iv Rhythm 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 (you may have to experiemnt with which to use, i don't use this setup anymore) midi controler goes to the g-major.

the g-major manual with explain how to setup the channel switching

Yeah, it really is gonna depend on which channels you are going to be switching between, most likely 1 and 3.

you will be able to switch all 3 channels using Ring, tip and ring + tip from the Y cable

I was always under the impression, that you could use EITHER or, not both, tip + ring with the Y cable method.

In regards to the mark iv, how would that even work?
Cheers

PS: I currently use the G-Major to switch Rhy1 + 2, while my GCX does Lead + EQ

It is safe on the Mark Iv as well as some of the older mesa amps, I know that a lot of the Triple Recs and newer amps you cant because each channel needs a designated ground.

I was able to switch all three channels on my mark IV using a Y cable and a G-major or a Rocktron Multivalve.

Here are a few older discussions that may help

You only need the tip ring, because one of the channels is default when none are selected, figure out which one that is and plug the switches into the other 2 channels. I think rhythm2 is default but it's been a while since I had my Mark IV
