I went to the store to buy some backup fuses for my old Mk II. When I came back home I checked out the existing fuse in the amp and realized I'd bought too small fuses. So I checked out some site on the net, and it looks like I'm gonna need the 3AG (32mm/1,25") fuse. Is this right?

It should say exactly the type of fuse you need right on the amp, right underneath the fuse itself. There shouldn't really even be any possibility of confusion... I'm pretty sure most Mesa amps use 3 or 4amp SLO-BLO fuses. But, again, it will say directly beneath the fuse, on the amp.

You are partly right. It says what kind of fuse you need (# amp, slo-blow), however it doesn't say anything about the physical size of the fuse itself (there are many sizes). But I'm pretty confident that it needs a 32mm x 6.5mm so I guess I found the answer to my own question. Thanks for your input though.

Fair enough, I didn't realize that fuse sizes could differ within the same type. Is the size printed on the fuse or did you find it in the manual?

Well this guy just said they did lol

So what's the deal?

I don't know what's the deal  I'm no expert and I don't pretend to be either. What is certain is that 20mm fuses don't fit in the Mk II fuse-holder (too small).

Look at these auctions:

Aren't they the exact same type of fuse apart from their physical size (or am I missing something)?

The Mark IIc gets a 3 Amp Slo-Blo fuse.

A partial truth. The Mark series amps get different fuse ratings based on output power. That is to say that a 60 watt IIC does not use the same rating as a 180 watt Coliseum. The export transformer amps(when using 200/230/240 volts) use a different rating than their domestic equivalents. Which amp do you have and what voltage are you getting from your power source?

This is why you always take the old part with you.
Works with everything but condoms.

Yeah, it's an export transformer that I use with 230v. I bought 32mm 1,5A slo-blow fuses:)
