Hey guys,

I just saw one of these for sale, and have some questions about them.

What amp would you compare the Formula too? Is it more of a Mark type preamp?

Does it have Reverb?

Is there any noise or delay when switching channels?

I've never played one, but have been thinking about getting one for a long time.

Can you get Carlos tone & sustain out of it?

Can you get Mark IV clean tones out of it?

Is there any hiss like the Blue Angel? I really love the Blue Angel tones, but it is hard to record with.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It was back in 2000 I had mine but I can give you my version of the sounds.

What I loved most was the clean channel which is very Fender like.

The gain structure is more in the Santana gain than metal type but it does not sound to clear on the drive channels. I recall it as a bit muddy. That may have been my fault for not adjusting it proper or the way it was connected to the amp.

I do have DAT recordings of it and it does sound ok but I did not use it for long as it was only the clean channel that stuck out as being good.

I can't remember if it had reverb but switching is noiseless an no delays as I recall. Not much noise either.

There is no reverb on the formula pre, thats the only thing I don't like about it. it has the best clean sound ever! but I find the gain channels to be very Santana like with a controlable sustain that is very touch sensitive. even with single coils! very nice! tt
