Have you tried the Boss V-Wah? It has such a variety of wahs, and you will find yours for sure in the sound it provides. The die harders say "oh but it's not a cry baby" or whatever; personally I think the crybaby sucks, but the V-Wah has this sound also so you can hear how thin it actually is compared to others.

Anyone have any links on modding the Crybaby? I have one from the early 90's that I wanna experiment on.

Thanks!

I just ordered up a new switch, cap, and some resistors :)

got bucks? check out wahs by RMC Teese. on a budget? that ibanez weeping demon wah impressed me recently in a music store. flexible.

I have a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe and stand by it. I have been playing many years...(I'm an old timer)... I have seen/used a lot of wah's and this has done it for me. I have had it for four years now. If lost, I'd get another one. I have never used it with a battery. I use their power supply.

A very popular wah from back in my day was, and still is the Gibson Maestro Boomerang. I haven't seen many around lately and am looking to replace the one I had stolen. It sounds at least as good as any of the wahs mentioned, but no true bypass if that means everything to you. But it won't kill your tone, has a very smooth sweep, and until recently could be found very cheap. So until I find one I'll stay with my Vox.

LAST NIGHT on ebay...(The Dunlop Slash wah)
anyway, the ones I've owned are...

The DOD FX17...was small, rugged steel body, the switch was on the bass side, and it doubled as a volume pedal. It sounded great, a wide sweep, but it got stolen from a gig one night, and I replaced with a ...

Dunlop Jimi Hendrix wah...I didn't like it too much, somewhat flat response...didn't like the "EQ change" when it was on. So I traded it for a

Dunlop Original CryBaby GCB 95...which sucks. Again, there is an obvious EQ change when its clicked on...very tinny and midrangey. So then I got a

Morley Bad Horsie...Good sweep, I dig the spring-return of the pedal, it had good range, no EQ change...but I've grown a little tired of it. So last night I snagged a Dunlop Slash Wah pedal...for a C note, not bad , coz brand new, they go for $150.00. I'll sell the Morley and the Dunlop, and I'll break even...

Truthfully, I feel it's just a question of finding the right ingredients...My Les Paul souds 100% ***-kicking perfect thru the Mark IV...My Strat , however, sounds better thru my Peavey Classic 50 (4x10) The Strat thru the Boogie, sounds like, well, there ain't no sigle coils in the mix! NoMark Knopfler/David Gilmour twang...

Let us know what you end up choosing.

I actually really like my Morley Bad Horsie II wah. I tried the Ernie Ball wah and was unimpressed. I thought it was overpriced first of all. Secondly, it was too subtle and had the super smooth vibe going on. The BHII has more of a mid voicing and sounds great for leads (which is what I mainly use it for). I can hit the contour mode and make it sound exactly like a Tremonti wah too... I rarely do that but I can!
