It's been years since I have been in a real band. The kids have come before music for about 8 years now.
I have finally decided to get off my ass and start something, anything. Seems like everything I've tried in that 8 years has just been a pain in the ass and not really fruitful.

So......After months of delays and illnesses, family illnesses, drama, etc. I finally get to jam tonight!
Can't wait! I've never used any of the equipment that I have now in a band. Maybe some cords and a mic or two!

Here's the setup:
PRS Custom 22 with DiMarzio pups
Planet Waves tuner
Bad Horsie II (can't afford the Clyde Deluxe yet!)
DC-10 with more gain mod and some other goodies!
Stilleto 4x12 w/2-V-30's and 2-Heritage 30's

well done!kids are a change for sure....turn the dc up and close your eyes and enjoy :D

That's awesome, Andy! Jamming is more fun than putting up with a band sometimes. Just open up and let 'er rip. No weekly scheduled practices - just all out fun for a night! Let us know how it goes and ENJOY!

  I plan to.

The drummer and bass player are really good, but extremely rusty like me. Ought to just call ourselves The Rusty Sacks!

Haven't even jammed yet and I'm trying to figure out a way to use the DC and the Heartbreaker in stereo!

Right on! I'm in the same boat right now. Havn't had a band since high school but in the last couple weeks I've scraped together another guitarist and a drummer. Good times.

Well, the PA sucked because we didn't have any bannana plugs or speak-on cables. We had to use a 70 watt powered mixer.

Other than that, it was really fun. None of us have played in a while, so we were able to click without feeling ashamed.
They want to learn a few covers and then start writing some originals.

:D The DC kills through my 4x12! Didn't get it past 2 though because of the PA.

70 watts doesn't spread very far in the rock world...

I'd love to have a 4x12, but I'd rather not wrestle it going to every practice. If I had a practice space and it stayed there then I'd deal with it for gigs. I'll stick to my 1x12 cab for now though. Glad you had fun. :)

 I did leave it there!
I carried it don my stairs yesterday by myself and almost blew a gasket! My music room is in my attic.
No way I was carrying it back up last night!
Thats the exact reason I traded down to the 2x12. :D Fits in the backseat nicely too.

Way to go Andy! Keep it up man.
I play 1x per week with our band in our permanent studio, and usually an extra nigh just cuz we have the set up and space.

the problem with having a 4x12 in the studio is you don't want to lug it to gigs, and then your sound at gigs doesn't sound 'right" cuz you are playing through a different set up than your ears are used to. So, my philosophy is, my practice rig has to work as a live rig. I keep both the mark IV and heartbreaker at the studio, and run between a 2x12, a thiele 1x12 and an open back 1x12, and can take whichever combination fits the gig as needed.

I dream of having a second MkIV at home, keeping a 1x12 there too, and not even tearing down the studio rig for a gig.

C'mon out to NorCal, visit Mesa Boogie... check out the lifestyle. You can stay with me, and we can set up a jam at the studio!

:D Hell yeah! If I get out that way, I'll be sure to look you up!

I'm thinking that 2 2x12's might be more of what I need. Now, the problem is that I have a mint condition Stilleto traditional 4x12 to sell off before I can get anything else. Maybe I can find a trade for a Recto cab and a 3/4 back!

I use a Mesa 1X12 with EV I took out of my Mark III for my Bogner head. Everyone looks at my funny when I bring it in. It all stops when I turn it on.

   That was one of the coolest things about my DC-3! I roll in with this tiny combo and a Thiele cab. Everybody laughs and says, "Look at that tiny thing, it's like a Micro-Stack!"

Then I shut them the hell up with the tone and volume!

The sad thing is I'm old enough to remember Pete Townsend and Carlos playing arenas with those lil Boogies.

I'd love to add a 2x12 horizontal Recto cab under my 1x12 3/4 back cab. Maybe one day if I can get some more cash freed up! I've just about run out of stuff to sell that I don't use/need.

+1 on being this old and being able to remember at all!
Actually, I saw Carlos play recently here in the SF Bay Area. He sat in with Dave Mathews. All he had was a Mark IV (his casual/guest rack rig). I think it is easier than ever to play big arenas with small amps, given the quality of the PA systems and mic'ing. It was harder before. Hell, Springsteen and Little Steven often just use Fender Hot Rods mic'd!

Cool about the band/jam Monsta. Sounds like you have the bug again. I can relate, I quit a garage/bar band, Nervous Wreck, in SC to finish my undergrad degree at night while working full time. Something had to go. Then started grad school right out of undergrad... Now living in Atlanta, it seems like hte stars have aligned to find a jamming group again. That was mad fun. I am practicing better and looking forward to being able to play with good equipment now. For the reasons you mentioned, this time I bought a 2x12 cab with my MKV. Portability is a good thing. Are you guys planning to play keggers or something like that? I remember playing 6 songs at the skating rink when I was 14 and feeling like king of the 8th grade. What a guitar can do.....
