I just put a candy apple red Malmsteen with a maple board on order. I know that the pickups are relatively low output and that a decent amount of players using those pickups use a boost or overdrive pedal in front of their amps. But for any of you guys who have this guitar (or these pickups), do you end up using a pedal in front of something like a Boogie that's got a lot of gain available?

Just curious what opinions might be out there.

well...when I talked to Joe Stump (antoher pro neo-classical player), he said he used a boost in front of his amps (marshalls). His guitar is pretty much the same as Yngwie's. I think he used a DOD OD pedal, but not sure of the model, but it's really up to you.

wow, we have some yngwies here in the local guitar shop. looks nice, but how do you feel about the extremly scalloped fretboard? i guess intonation will be a challenge.
