Hey all.

Can anyone give me the best advice on how to wire up an extension cab for my F-100 combo?

I'm looking to run a 2x12 16 Ohm Orange cab in addition to the in built 2x12 combo speakers.

Do I run the combo speakers out of one of the 4 Ohm outputs and take the 16 Ohm ext cab out of the 8 Ohm output?

Don't want to damage amp or cab so all advice is very welcome. :?

Regards

Chris.

Mesa amps are really forgiving. plug the extension cab and the internal speakers into the 4 ohm plugs.

the internal speakers and the cab will be running around 6 ohms or so.

the amp will run just fine, no worries.

Be aware, though, that the Mesa speakers will receive 2/3 of the power, and the Orange speakers will only get 1/3 of the power. To have equal volume output from each, you'll need to have speakers that are 103db efficient.

I hooked up a 16-ohm 4x12 to my F-100 combo, and it didn't make that much of a difference in sound, due to the more efficient 2x12s getting twice the power. Like all things, though, YMMV.

This is the response I got from Mesa just to clarify.

You can run a 16ohm cab with the
F100 combo. You will want to run from the 8ohm of the F100 into the
16ohm cab and from the 4ohm of the F100 into the 8ohm internal speaker.

Always good to share the knowledge! :)
