Hi, how would an Express 5:50's burn or crunch mode handle stuff like Green Day, Offspring, Blink 182, and up to stuff from Metallica and Megadeth
or should I just get another Rectifier

5:50 is great for Green Day, Offspring & Blink but not enuf gain for Metallica or Megadeath.
You need a pedal for very high gain metal tones imo.

I think the Mark V is a better all round amp than the Rectos these days.
Channel 3 does high gain metal fantastic

I _think_ my 5:25 can get into 80s/90s Metallica/Megadeth territory. But I've never had the original preamp tubes, so a stock 5:25 might have less preamp distortion.

Express amps have a lot more balls than you would think. :)

Another +1

I was jamming at my buddy's house this weekend with my 5:50 1x12 and he was playing his new Mark V. I had enough gain to keep up with him. When the Express is dialed in right, its got plenty of Metallica tones.

The 5:50 has a lot of gain in the Burn channel. You just can't be afraid to turn your pre-amp settings way up! Maybe even all the way up! It might hiss a bit but all you need to do is hiss right back with some killer Metal cords and screaming leads. You also need 12AX7's in all the positions. They have a gain factor of 100. Any other tubes and you are going to fall short!

Keep in mind my pickups are very hot, so that helps. But my Burn settings are approximately :
Gain - 3:00, Treble - 12:30 or 1:00, Mids - 10:00, Bass - 9:00, Contour - 3:00
