I just picked up a used (looks brand new) Mesa 5:25 1x10 combo. Everything works as it should except that it won't switch to 5 watt mode. The yellow led on the front panel does not light when I flip the switch from 30w to 5w on the back of the amp. Also, it doesn't sound any different regardless of the switch setting. Has anyone experienced this problem? Does anyone know of a fix, short of shipping the amp back to Mesa?

Thanks.

If you not skilled with electronics then I'd say it is time to take it in for repair. It may just be the switch or a connecting wire, but it could also be the relay which reconfigures multiple parts of the power stage.

So far I have not heard of anyone else having this fault.

Well, actually I do have some limited electronics skills. However, I haven't removed the chassis yet. Does anyone know if the relay is a plug in or a solder in part?

It's soldered in. I'd say in your case, pull out the chassis and check the switch and its connecting wires.
