Anyone have any experience w/ these speakers?
I have a chance to get a slightley used one on The cheap.
Are they more for PA and Bass applications?
I would be putting it in a 1X12" enclosure, 1/4 open, to use w/ my 5:25 Express.
Please let me know your opinions. All will be welcome.

What it will sound like, I don't know, but I'd get it without hesitation, they just don't come up where I live. If you don't like it sell it on.

Buy it.

EV's are very honest, so be aware that you cant put the EV in and then turn it on and use the same settings you were using before. You'll have to re-dial everything in the way you like it.

But once you get it dialed in, then you start comparing other speakers to it, you will either keep the EV forever, or you will switch and eventually come back to the EV.

The only other speaker I keep coming back to is Tone Tubby. EV's are pretty much top of the line for the home or semi pro axe grinder. I have 4 of them, a EVM15L, a EVM12L, and two 10's EVM10L and BX10. They are awesome, bought 'em, sold 'em, tried many many others, including a few Jensens, came back to EV and wondered why I ever sold 'em. Never letting go of mine.

Well I got the EV 12" Force speaker.
I traded a recently aquired used Jensen P12N reissue for the EV Force 12" in a straight across trade.
I was hesitant, because of the age of the EV, but The guy I traded w/ on CL was nice and trusting enough to let me take the speaker home for a few days and install it in my 1X12" enclosure to see if I liked it. It was a little dusty, but looks to be in excellent shape. I had it for 2 days and decided to keep it.
He said it came out of a late 80's Ampeg. He told me he's had the EV stored in a closet for the past 16 years.
The thing is a beast! heavy and stout. I think my 1x12" enclosure w/ the EV loaded in it is almost as heavy as my Express combo! I had to go to Ace Hdwr and get 1/2" longer screws to hold it in the enclosure.
I cranked the hell out of it hooked up to my 5:25 Express and incured the rath of the little mrs and my 2 cats.
Loud as hell! I heard somewhere (probably here) that the EV's do not color your sound and you hear the true tone of your guitar and amp. I'm pretty impressed, but I'll need to spend some time finding the optimum settings.
It should be a great cab to use w/ my other amps, too!
I'll give a review after spending some time w/ it. :D

I had an EV Force 10 that I tried in my '68 Princeton Reverb years ago. It was loud as hell but I didn't like it at all! The amp lost all of its Fender sparkle with that speaker!

I don't doubt that it was a good speaker, but it wasn't what I wanted in that amp.

And you can push the amp master volume a bit harder if you put 5751's in the tubes slots, maybe try an AU7 in the P.I. slot, then crank the master full and start redialing your tone. You'll have fun, guaranteed!

I have a Celestion G-10 Gold 10" loaded in my 5:25 Combo.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Celestion, but disconnecting the G-10 and plugging the 1X12 Cab loaded EV Force in makes the amp sound like a totally different animal! Crystal sparkling clear on in the Clean mode. Playing w/ the gain and contour controls in the Blues and Crunch modes give me a wide varity of usable kick *** tones.
First I had a Eminence Texas heat in the 1x12" cab. It was alright, I guess.
Then I traded some Gibson Firebird banjo tuners for a slightly used Jensen P12N vintage reissue. That sounded great w/ the 5:25, but now I have the EV and I'm very impressed. Sounds better to me than the Jensen. I'm glad I took a chance and scored the EV. :D
Next gig I plan on running the Celestion 10" gold and the 12" EV loaded cab together. I'm sure it'll make some beautiful noise! 8)
