Hi guys

I'm trying to improve my tone with my Roadster. I'll get a Boss sd-1 or a Bad Monkley for tightening my leads and I'm searching for an EQ too.

First of all, I never used EQ's before, so I confess I'm really a noob at it. But I've been reading and talking a lot about it and it seems that a good use of an EQ will make a big difference.

1 - The big question is: Would I benefit more from a rack unit or from a pedal? I'm used to rack pieces, but maybe now I feel I may go from rack to pedals... However, I guess I'll allways keep some rack units.

2 - How many bands the unit should have? I guess that 15 would be great. I found that 31 are not really usable for guitar.

3 - Do you use your units allways ON? If not, then would be nice to have some way to toggle them ON/OFF

From my research, I found that these 3 units are all nice and at a good price range:

a) MXR M-108 10 Band EQ
b) DBX 215 Dual Graphic EQ
c) DOD SR430QXLR (this one I cannot buy directly here in Portugal)

Can you tell me more about them and how they can be compared to each others?

Thanks very much

Definately a), it has all the bands needed for a guitar amp, it's very flexible(with both gain & volume sliders), and it's very quiet either in front of the amp or in the loop which is where I use it.

BTW it's also a rugged well made pedal.

Thanks t0aj15

I know people on the forum really like this one and it sure influences me positively.
I want to know more opinions on these one and rack units. Between the MXR and other stompboxes I believe the MXR beats them all, so I think the discussion will be MXR vs Rack EQ's.

Go on... :)
