From the ED manual:
V1 - Vint. Hi
V2 - Vint. Hi & Lo
V3 - Vint. Hi & Lo
V4 - Clean
V5A - Clean
V5B - FX Return
V6 - Reverb
V7 - Driver
the other Mesa manuals i've seen are a bit more descriptive about the roles of the Preamp tubes...
Does this imply that the clean channel has seperate input stages from HI/LO?
My understanding is that with other amps - the 1st/2nd tubes usually have the most impact on tone... in the ED i've swapped V1/V2/V3 and been a happy camper with my OD sounds!
(all i did was replace the stock tubes with older stock mesa tubes from another amp - the ones labelled 'russian 2' and the OD sounds MUCH thicker, fuller, warmer - are these EH tubes?)
I'm not sure how V4/V5 factor in here - i've swapped a few with mixed results - i need more tubes to experiment with! looking for some more shimmer...
Any words of wisdom?
