Hey everyone,

I was just wondering how would this sound? I mean I love the JJ 6L6's in my DC-10 head, but I was just wondering how it would sound with EL34's. Has anyone ever tried this? I realize I would have to have a trim pot installed for biasing and what not. Would it make the amp thicker/grittier? Thanks to everyone in advance.

I'd be interested in this as well. It'd be neat if we could have a switch like the Recto's do to go between 6L6's and EL34's.

I actually talked to boogie about this, and they said I would have to swap out transformers as well to use el34s. They said it would be no small project!

As much as I love my DC's, they do have some under-rated transformers.

That's a bummer. I was thinking about this too.

An easy fix would be to add a 6.3v filament transformer and just use it to power the EL34's.

I was also thinking about adding a Bias Pot and using 6V6's in my DC-5. Sort of like turning it into the Deluxe Reverb from hell.
